Recruiter cover letter example

A recruiter’s cover letter has to prove that you fill roles quickly with the right people, keep candidates engaged through offer, and work well with hiring managers.

Opens with the matching recruiter resume, in the same design, so the two read as a set.

The letter, as text

Dear Ms. Achterberg,

Doubling an engineering team in two years without lowering the bar is the brief behind Fennel Robotics’ Senior Technical Recruiter role. I have just done that at Bluebonnet Software, and I would like to do it again for you.

Over the past two years I hired 140 engineers, designers and product managers as Bluebonnet grew from 120 to 300 people. Speed was the first problem: our average time to fill was 51 days. I introduced structured intake meetings with every hiring manager and short sourcing sprints, and brought it down to 32 days. I also maintain a 91% offer-acceptance rate by keeping candidates informed and giving hiring managers clear compensation guidance before offers go out.

Quality includes who you reach. I built a diversity sourcing program at Bluebonnet, and the share of women among our engineering hires rose from 18% to 34%. Before moving in-house, I placed 60 candidates in IT and finance roles for 25 client companies at Talentbridge Agency and ranked in the top three of 15 recruiters for placements in 2021.

I would be glad to share the intake template I use with hiring managers and to talk through your hiring plan for next year. I am available to meet any day next week.

Kind regards,
Jasmine Clark

Why this recruiter cover letter works

  • It reframes the job as a business challenge, scaling a team fast, and immediately offers a matching track record.
  • Hire volume, time to fill and offer-acceptance rate are the core recruiting metrics, and each is explained, not just stated.
  • The diversity sourcing result shows the candidate improves who gets hired, not just how quickly.
  • Offering the intake template is a concrete, useful next step that demonstrates process skill.

Tips for your own recruiter cover letter

  1. Give your hire volume over a defined period, your average time to fill and your offer-acceptance rate.
  2. Explain one change you made to the hiring process and the result, such as intake meetings or sourcing sprints.
  3. Name the types of roles you hire for and the company growth stage, since technical and high-growth recruiting differ from general hiring.

Questions

How long should a recruiter cover letter be?

Three or four short paragraphs, about 250 words, never more than one page. Hiring managers skim; every sentence should add proof the resume does not already give.

Do I need a cover letter for a recruiter job?

Send one whenever the application allows it, unless the posting says not to. It is your chance to connect your experience to this employer’s needs, and many candidates skip it.

Can I use this cover letter for free?

Yes. Open it in the builder with the matching resume, replace the details with your own, and download both as PDF or Word, free, with no account and no watermark.
